KARA GOUGHNOUR IS THE SCENT OF BASIL AND LEMON THROUGH THE KITCHEN WINDOW TINTED WITH YELLOW LINEN AND SUNLIGHT. SHE IS THE BODILY WARMTH LEFT ON INANIMATE OBJECTS AFTER THEY’RE HANDED TO YOU, MAKING THEM SEEM TO HOLD THEIR OWN LIFE. SHE IS the bloodied round on the head of the deer missing an antler, staring down at you through the green clouds of tree. SHE IS A GREEN LEAF PLUCKED AND TUCKED BETWEEN POINTED TEETH. SHE IS A SMILE SHINING LIKE A LONE GHOST IN THE DARK.
