KARA GOUGHNOUR IS THE SCENT OF BASIL AND LEMON THROUGH THE KITCHEN WINDOW TINTED WITH YELLOW LINEN AND SUNLIGHT. they are THE BODILY WARMTH LEFT ON INANIMATE OBJECTS AFTER THEY’RE HANDED TO YOU, MAKING THEM SEEM TO HOLD THEIR OWN LIFE. they are the bloodied round on the head of the deer missing an antler, staring down at you through the green clouds of tree. they are A GREEN LEAF PLUCKED AND TUCKED BETWEEN POINTED TEETH. they are A SMILE SHINING LIKE A LONE GHOST IN THE DARK.
